London Northwestern Railway urges passengers to check journeys ahead of timetable change

London Northwestern Railway is urging passengers to check their journeys ahead of a number of changes to its timetable next week.

From Sunday 12 December the operator is introducing an additional fast service between Northampton and London Euston on weekdays in response to customer demand.

The change means departure times on many services running between Birmingham New Street, Northampton and London Euston will alter.

Lawrence Bowman, LNR customer experience director, said:

“Over recent months we have been delighted to welcome more customers back to the railway following the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

“In response to customer feedback and our passenger numbers, now is the right time to introduce an additional fast train between Northampton and London on weekdays.

“This means departure times for many of our services will change which is why we are urging our customers to check their journeys carefully.”

Changes in the new timetable include:

  • New departure times for LNR services between Birmingham New Street, Northampton and London Euston
  • An additional fast train will run between Northampton and London Euston every hour on weekdays
  • Some trains between Milton Keynes and London Euston will run with 8 carriages compared to 12 currently
  • The 0537hrs service from Milton Keynes to Birmingham New Street will double in length (8 carriages compared to 4 currently)
  • The introduction of a new 2217hrs service from Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe on Saturdays
  • Additional train services reinstated on the Abbey (Watford-St Albans) and Marston Vale (Bletchley-Bedford) lines

Passengers are being reminded it is once again mandatory to wear a face covering when on board public transport and fines for non-compliance may apply.

Meanwhile, the operator is also giving customers advanced warning of planned engineering works taking place on the West Coast Main Line in January. Network Rail is carrying out major flood protection upgrades to the track between Milton Keynes and Rugby from January 4-12.

The work means all LNR services from Crewe to London Euston via the Trent Valley will terminate at Rugby (from the north) and some services from the south will terminate at Milton Keynes. Passengers may need to change onto alternative services to complete their trips and journeys will take longer.
