What a Revenue Protection & Security Manager does
As a Revenue Protection & Security Manager with London Northwestern Railway, you'll be at the heart of ensuring our passengers enjoy their journey, minimising ticketless travel and building our revenue protection strategies. Your main mission? To make sure everyone has the right ticket for their trip, keeping things fair for all passengers and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Ticket Checks: You'll be on board our trains and at stations, checking passengers' tickets to make sure everyone has a valid ticket for their specific journey.
- Fare Collection: If a passenger doesn't have a valid ticket, you'll guide them through purchasing the correct fare on the spot.
- Minimising ticketless travel: By promoting the purchase of tickets before travel, inspecting tickets and intervening when there are instances of ticketless travel you will be preventing fare evasion.
- Handling Fare Evasion: In cases where fare evasion is suspected, you'll conduct investigation interviews, issue penalty fares or report the incident for further action to minimise the loss of revenue and reduce the risk of further fraudulent behaviour.
- Collaboration: You'll work closely with colleagues to minimise revenue losses and drive anti-ticketless travel initiatives. You’ll also collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other external stakeholders during joint operations, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all.
- Strategic planning and implementation: Working with colleagues and external stakeholders you’ll work to develop and implement strategic plans that respond to data and information coming in regarding ticketless travel with the aim of preventing it.
- Customer Assistance: Beyond ticket checks and strategic planning, you'll assist passengers seeking information about train schedules, routes, and general inquiries.

Our Revenue Protection Officers work varied shifts that allow for flexibility. These shifts can include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Having your own mode of transportation is advised as shifts can start as early as 5:30 am and can end after the final train has departed.
