London Northwestern Railway: Nuneaton railway station in full bloom thanks to local volunteer group

Nuneaton station has been given a summer makeover with a new collection of vibrant floral displays, thanks to London Northwestern Railway (LNR) volunteers.

Customers local to Nuneaton can discover all-new flower arrangements across the platforms, as well as new planters including a miniature cast stone steam engine, novelty pirate’s chest and hanging baskets within the overbridge.

The new displays were designed and planted by the Friends of Nuneaton Station adopter group who have been hard at work in the warm weather to brighten up the platforms.

Station adopters are volunteers who lend a helping hand at their local station to keep it well maintained. Their projects can include gardening, painting and installing artwork or information boards. LNR and sister-brand West Midlands Railway (WMR) jointly have over 440 volunteers across its network of 155 stations.

Shantel Carty, community engagement manager at LNR, said: “The new displays in Nuneaton are absolutely wonderful. Even when faced with the hot weather, our station adopters have done a fantastic job of re-planting and maintaining the flowerbeds, and there’s more to come, with even more planters ready to be installed soon.”
