Storm Franklin: London Northwestern Railway urges passengers to check before travelling on Monday

London Northwestern Railway (LNR) is urging passengers to check their journeys before travelling tomorrow (Mon 21 Feb) with further high winds expected as Storm Franklin arrives.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind for most of England from Sunday afternoon until 1pm on Monday, bringing a risk of fallen trees and other disruption. Some trains will travel at slower speeds as a result.

No LNR services are expected to run between Liverpool Lime Street and Crewe until 10am.

The advice comes after Storm Eunice caused significant disruption to journeys across the country on Friday and Saturday.

Lawrence Bowman, LNR customer experience director, said: “The high winds forecast in Storm Franklin risk bringing further disruption to the rail network and I urge all passengers travelling on Monday to check their journeys before setting out.

"As we have seen in the last 72 hours, stormy conditions can cause significant damage to railway infrastructure which is why we are advising our passengers to plan their journeys carefully.

"Tickets for travel on Monday will be accepted on Tuesday if passengers choose not to travel."
