Off-Peak Tickets

Off-Peak tickets are great for flexibility and great value when you avoid travelling at busy times.

If you can be flexible when you travel but don't want to specify a particular train then an Off-Peak ticket is for you. And because they're designed to be used when our trains are quiet, outside the commuter peak times, they are great value too. There are two types: Off-Peak (valid for travel 7-days a week) and Super Off-Peak (valid for travel Monday to Thursday only). Both are available as one-way and return tickets.

Off-Peak Ticket Information

  • Available as single (one-way) and return tickets
  • You can return within one calendar month and, to help you get home on a night out, a return is valid until 04:30 the following morning
  • Weekends and bank holidays are entirely Off-Peak, so you can travel on any train at any time on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Super Off-Peak tickets are even cheaper, but some further time restrictions apply
  • Singles are great for matching with Advance tickets if you need a bit more flexibility for when you leave or return
  • Railcard discounts apply, making it even cheaper
  • Some routes have first class Off-Peak tickets, but don’t worry if you can’t get one - at weekends you can upgrade on-board for just £15 return
  • Three or more people travelling together can get a GroupSave discount with an Off-Peak ticket, so just two people pay, saving you up to 50%
  • Selected routes may also have a cheaper Super Off-Peak Midweek ticket
  • Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak Tickets that show ‘any permitted’ enable you to travel on any train operator
  • Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak Tickets that show ‘West Midlands Trains only’ are much cheaper than the alternative ‘any permitted’ and allow you to travel on West Midlands Railway or London Northwestern Railway trains

The table below applies to tickets marked "London Northwestern Railway Only" or "West Midlands Railway only" (sometimes marked as "LNR & WMR Only"). Tickets marked "Any Permitted" have different conditions. Use our only journey planner to check when you can travel.
