If you qualify for a Disabled Persons Railcard, you gain access to:

  • 1/3 off rail fares for you and one person travelling with you
  • Valid at any time of day with no restrictions, including peak travel
  • Digital or physical card options
  • Available across the UK rail network, including along LNR routes

Who is eligible for a Disabled Persons Railcard?

You will qualify if you:

  • receive Personal Independence Payments (PIP)
  • receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) at either:
    • the higher or lower rate for the mobility component, or
    • the higher or middle rate for the care component
  • have a visual impairment
  • have a hearing impairment
  • have epilepsy
  • receive Attendance Allowance or Severe Disablement Allowance
  • receive War Pensioner's Mobility Supplement
  • receive War or Service Disablement Pension for 80% or more disability
  • buy or lease a vehicle through the Motability scheme
  • have a Disabled Persons Bus Pass in England, Scotland or Wales
  • have a London Disabled Persons Freedom Pass
  • have a Blue Badge
  • Are currently unable to drive on medical grounds
  • receive Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) benefits
  • receive Industrial Injuries Benefit for 20% degree of disablement or higher
    are without speech

How to buy a Disabled Persons Railcard

If you are looking to renew your Disabled Persons Railcard and your details are the same, you can quickly repurchase your Railcard online or over the phone 30 days before it is due to expire.
If you don’t have a Disabled Persons Railcard already, the easiest way to get yours is to apply online .

  • Proof of age: A valid UK driving licence, international passport, or EEA National Identity Card
  • A photo: A digital passport-style headshot.
  • Payment: A credit or debit card.

When using the LNR website or app, simply select that you have a Disabled Persons Railcard from the dropdown menu before you search. We’ll calculate the savings for you, showing the discounted fares immediately so you can find the right tickets for your trip.

If you’re buying tickets at a station, be sure to present your Railcard to staff to receive your ticket discount.

Always remember to take your Disabled Persons Railcard with you when you travel, either on your phone or the physical card, in case of inspection.
