Liverpool is a vibrant city that is steeped in history, culture, and entertainment. With so much to see and do, it can be tough to decide what to do in Liverpool for a day. So, if you only have 24 hours in Liverpool, here are some of the top things to see and do.

Book your tickets

Albert Dock

Start your day with a visit to the iconic Albert Dock. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to a collection of museums, galleries, restaurants, and shops. Take a stroll along the waterfront and admire the stunning architecture of the buildings. You can also take a tour of the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the Tate Liverpool or the Beatles Story Museum, all of which are located within the dock. Don't forget to snap a few pictures of the stunning views of the water and the boats that are docked nearby.

Liverpool Cathedral

Next, head to the Liverpool Cathedral, one of the largest and most impressive cathedrals in the world. This stunning building is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. You can take a guided tour of the cathedral or simply explore on your own. Be sure to climb to the top of the tower for incredible panoramic views of the city. The cathedral is free to visit, but donations are encouraged to help with the upkeep of this magnificent building.

Bold Street

For lunch, head to the Bold Street area, which is known for its eclectic mix of independent cafés and restaurants. This area is also great for shopping, with plenty of unique boutiques and vintage shops. You can find everything from traditional English pub food to vegan and vegetarian options. Be sure to check out some of the street art that is scattered throughout the area as well. Bold Street is a great place to soak up the atmosphere of Liverpool and enjoy a meal at one of the many independent eateries.

Liverpool One

After lunch, take a walk to the Liverpool One shopping center. This massive complex features over 170 stores, ranging from high-end fashion brands to department stores. It's a great place to pick up souvenirs or indulge in some retail therapy. The shopping center is located in the heart of the city, so you'll also be able to explore some of the nearby streets and sights while you're there.

The Beatles-related Sites

In the afternoon, visit the Beatles-related sites in Liverpool that the city is famous for. Start with a visit to the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, which are now owned by the National Trust and open to the public. You can also take a walk down Mathew Street, home to the Cavern Club, where the Beatles played over 200 times in the early 1960s. There are plenty of Beatles-themed tours available, so be sure to check them out if you're a fan of the Fab Four.
