Birmingham's Commonwealth Games has seen visitors flock to the city from far and wide, inspiring generations to take an interest in sport. With this in mind, we've compiled a list of fun sporting activities that you can explore when you get a train to Birmingham .
Golf Fang
- Closest station: Birmingham Moore Street
It’s all aboard to try out some whacky crazy golf in Birmingham at the renowned Gold Fang, located in Digbeth. Enjoy 18 holes of pure entertainment whilst surrounded by bespoke art (perfect for when you need to update the ‘gram’). For over 18’s only, this place also has delicious food and cocktails for when your round is finished – but be sure to book in advance to avoid missing out!
Roxy Ball Room
- Closest station: Birmingham Moore Street
For ten pin bowling, table tennis, shuffleboard, beer pong and basketball head to Roxy Ball Room. Pay as you play or pay by the hour for endless fun - and you can stay out late as Roxy’s is open until midnight every day of the week! Just make sure you check out those last train home times.
Depot Climbing
- Closest station: Birmingham New Street
Instead of climbing the walls in your hotel room, head to Depot in Sherlock Street. Let your adventure at the state-of-the-art climbing facility begin. All members of the family or a group of friends can experience rock climbing and bouldering, with different walls suitable for every skill level.
Rush Indoor Trampoline Park
- Closest station: Bournville
Get a move on to Rush Indoor Trampoline park just a stone’s throw from Bournville (connect at Birmingham New Street) station in Stirchley. Find your perfect bounce with choices of sunset sessions, toddler jumps, open jumps and even fitness classes. There are also Autism and SEN classes to make all family visits as enjoyable as possible. And what will really make you jump for joy is the train ticket price - just £3.30 each (during off-peak times) for the short 15-minute return trip!
Ackers Adventures

Get your adrenaline fix at Ackers Adventures! Choose from numerous activities including various snowsports, disc golf, archery and a zip wire and put your competitiveness to the test this summer. Just two miles from Birmingham City Centre, taking the train from Birmingham New Street to Tyseley.
Bear Grylls Adventure
- Closest station: Bear Grylls Adventure
For the ultimate day of thrill-seeking, head to Bear Grylls Adventure next to the NEC, by simply hopping on the train to Birmingham International, to see if you can match up to the British Adventurer. What’s more, if you travel by train you can get 2 for 1 tickets (to archery)! Once there, you can experience the tallest high ropes course in Europe, dive with sharks or perhaps try your hand at axe-throwing! This place definitely isn’t for the fainthearted!
DropShot
- Closest station: Birmingham Moor Street
You won’t bat back and forth with this idea. DropShot in Digbeth is a multi-use activity bar like no other. Featuring a bar (cocktails and craft beers served), six Olympic grade table tennis tables, shuffleboards, pool tables, wood fired pizzas and an eclectic mix of music to suit all tastes.
Sixes
- Closest station: Birmingham New Street
Cricket like you’ve never seen before. Sixes, is the home of social cricket, mixing the wonderful game with sumptuous BBQ-inspired food and sensational drink offerings.
Flight Club

You’ll hit the bullseye with Flight Club as they bring darts to the twenty-first century. Grab your family and friends together and get hooked on a variety of miniature dart games at your very own oche, starting from just £7 per person!
Floodgate
- Closest station: Birmingham Moore Street
Curl Club provides six lanes (three indoor, three outdoor) for you and your friends to show your curling capabilities. Aim for the target and see who walks out a champion! And, as this is social curling, you can also enjoy a nice cool beverage from the bar whilst singing and dancing to some of the latest tunes.
If curling isn’t for you, not to worry. The Floodgate also offers Bleachers Baseball and Pit Pat Table Golf.
