Loop On-Board WiFi & Entertainment

Free WiFi plus entertainment on-board.

Whether you’re surfing, shopping or staying in touch with friends, our free WiFi service means you're connected on the move.

It couldn’t be easier. Once you're on-board our trains, select Loop WiFi from the list of available networks in your WiFi settings.

You can also enjoy our on-board entertainment service via Loop. Here you’ll find some great shows and channels to keep you entertained on your journey. Choose from TV programmes, magazines, short films, news and more.

What do you fancy watching?

Loop free WiFi and Entertainment, the official media portal from West Midlands Trains.

By accessing Loop, you accept these Terms & Conditions and expressly agree that they will govern its use. If you do not agree to the Terms & Conditions, please do not access Loop.

Once you’re on-board the train, you’ll be able to connect to “Loop WiFi” and access a great range of entertainment, including TV programmes, magazines, short films, news and more by visiting www.loopwifi.co.uk

  1. Download the app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App store (iOS)
  2. Once you’ve boarded the train, connect to “Loop WiFi”
  3. Then, open the app on your device and select Loop WiFi/Media from the menu
  4. If it’s your first time, you’ll be asked to complete a quick registration form - it shouldn’t take any more than a minute
  5. When you’re done, you’ll be taken to the content area where you can access free WiFi and a raft of entertainment services
  1. Once you’ve boarded the train, connect to “Loop WiFi”
  2. You will be taken to our WiFi registration or login page automatically. If you’re not, simply visit www.loopwifi.co.uk
  3. If it’s your first time, you’ll be asked to complete a quick registration form - it shouldn’t take any more than a minute
  4. When you’re done, you’ll be taken to the content area where you can access free WiFi and a raft of entertainment services. If you’re using an iPhone or iPad you may need to download our app to view some content

We currently have our free WiFi and entertainment service available on all our class 350 and 323 trains operating over most routes. We’ll be exploring the feasibility of upgrading the rest of our fleet by 2019.

By combining 3G and 4G mobile data signals along the route, we’ll keep you connected where we can as we travel along our route. When you first connect to our WiFi on-board, you’ll be given the option to either access 25MB of free daily data for browsing and/or choose unlimited access to our free on-board entertainment system.

To make sure everyone can enjoy a seamless connection, we’ve restricted app downloads on-board. You can download the app easily by switching to your 3G or 4G service temporarily but, depending on your service, you may have to pay data charges.

You’ll need to enter your name and email address to log onto our WiFi or access free content, but it’s up to you whether you’d like to receive news and offers from West Midlands Trains. If you’d rather not receive marketing materials from us, just untick the box – you’ll still be able to use the WiFi.

To make sure everyone can enjoy a seamless connection, we limit connection speed and access to some video and music streaming sites, as well as those with content that’s not suitable for an open public network. Even with these necessary restrictions, we’re confident you’ll still find plenty to keep you entertained. And remember, our on-board content has no usage restrictions!

Our free WiFi uses several 3G and 4G signals, so the quality of the internet connection will vary depending on where you are along our route and how many people are using the free WiFi at any one time.

If you lose your connection, we’re probably just passing through an area with a weak signal. If this happens, there’s no need to reconnect. As soon as the signal improves, you’ll be connected again automatically.

The good news is, watching content through Loop isn’t affected by the signal, so you can enjoy our range of TV programmes, magazines and more for your entire journey.

Loop WiFi and entertainment is completely free for your entire journey.

We’ve made some great content available on Loop, including some of the following News and TV programmes including comedy and documentaries:

Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Weather, Bloomberg News, Soccer AM, Extreme Sports from Red Bull TV and natural history documentaries, and a selection of the best shows from NOW TV.

You can also read from a selection of ten digital magazines:

Cosmopolitan, Top Gear, Marie Claire, Men's Health, Time Out London, Four Four Two, Stylist, Shortlist, Total Film and Lonely Planet Traveller.

We’re keeping track of what our passengers most enjoy watching and plan to update the content regularly. Please do get in touch with your suggestions.

We’re keeping our passengers connected by offering on-board WiFi wherever we can along our routes. Due to the nature of the 3G and 4G mobile connections, speeds and connectivity will vary depending on where we are and how many people are online.

As we’ve made our WiFi and entertainment content free for all passengers, it’s not a service that’s included with your ticket price and we’ll be unable to make any refunds.

Although the network is an open network, we’ve implemented lots of safeguards, so it shouldn’t be possible for other users to get unauthorised access to your device. That said, we recommend that you always make sure you’re connected to the right network and keep your firewall and anti-virus software up to date. This will help you to keep your data safe.
