Located in the heart of the West Midlands, the Museum tells over 300 years of history, from the Industrial Revolution to post-war prosperity, through living interpretation.
Visitors are invited to step inside each of the buildings to say ‘Ow am ya?’ and chat with the people that made this place home, from metalworkers and miners to nurses and schoolteachers – and even a pub landlord or two. They will discover the history of a small region that made a big impact on the people, culture and industry of the world and understand why the area was called ‘the Black Country’. Visitors can go underground in the drift mine to find out what life was like for an 1850s miner or watch a short film from the silent era in the 1920s cinema. They can see classic cars, vans and motorcycles and even ride on a vintage bus. Or perhaps take part in an Edwardian school lesson – but be careful not to get the cane!
The new 1940s-60s high street is open for business and shares popular culture of the time. Visitors can meet new historic characters, see the latest fashions, taste nostalgic sweets, listen to trend setting vinyl records, and shop in the 1950s butchers.
For those of you who are thrill seekers, head over to the fairground to experience traditional rides, reach for the stars on the super-sonic jets or have a go at old-time stall games. And, as you delve into the past, why not buy pick up a paper bag of traditional sweets or get a round in, in one of two working pubs.

- Only two persons allowed per voucher, unless offer states otherwise. Please print out as many of the vouchers that you require for your party size.
- You must produce your two National Rail train tickets as evidence of travelling by train to the attraction destination - most train tickets display the symbol. National Rail issued tickets include Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak, Advance, Anytime and Season Tickets.
- If you are travelling on Advance tickets or similar, please ask to keep both inbound and return legs of the tickets, when arriving at your destination station. In cases where electronic ticket barriers are in operation, you should approach a member of the train company staffs who can arrange for you to retain your tickets as proof of travelling by train.
- For email and mobile train tickets please present your phone or supporting printed travel ticket. You may also be asked to produce photo ID. A printed 2FOR1 voucher is still required if you are showing a digital train ticket.
